I'm BACK...well sort of.......

I am happy to say that Girl Scout cookie time has wrapped up for the year!  My dining room is finally looking back to normal.....kinda.  I still have some cookies left that the troop didn't sell but I am about to pass them off to someone else so I can get my life back on track!

A while back, when I was working on my closets, I mentioned that I had a special incentive to work on the closets and get them cleaned out.  Well, as it turns out, we are moving to Atlanta.  My superman husband has been transferred and will now be the V.P. of the southeastern region.  He started his new job yesterday and the kids and I will follow this summer.

I spent the weekend in Atlanta house hunting.  Who knew you could look at so many houses in a four day span of time?!  I was exhausted at the end of every day.  House hunting is hard work!  It took a lot out of me both mentally and physically.  I am such a klutz!!  On the very first day we were there, while out looking at the second house of the day, I tripped while walking UP the front steps of the house and cut the bottom of my toe.  Of course it started to gush blood and of course I didn't have a band-aid.  Thank goodness that we were at a house that was occupied and I could "borrow" some paper towels to tide me over until I could get a band-aid.  What a klutz!  I was so embarrassed!!!  Oh well, things happen I guess. LOL  Long story short we ended up bidding on a house but a bid had already been put in the night before so now we are the back up bid.  I just put it all in the hands of the Man upstairs.  If it was meant to be then it will - if not......we will keep looking.  We have a great Realtor, so I know we will find something soon.

I love Atlanta so far.  It is sooooo different than Houston.   I love the hills, mountains and all of the trees.  The people are nice too.  Who knew that you could actually have a view in your backyard?  Here in Houston all we have is a flat yard with grass and a 6ft privacy fence to stare at.  I am definitely looking forward to finding a house.

In the meantime, I have to get this house ready to show.  There is lots of work to be done!  I finally am going to be forced to do all of the touch up paint that I have so sadly neglected.  It seems I get to the end of painting a room and I am too tired to go back and touch up the spots where I hit the ceiling or trim with paint.  Gotta get out that paint brush and get to work.  I also have to purge the kids rooms and the game room.  Have you ever tried to purge a teenagers room?  Mine are so reluctant to get rid of anything.  Especially my daughter.  Everything is a memory to her.  I've got my work cut out for me.

I am sooooooooo sad to have to leave my vintage crate stairs.  I will sure miss them.  I am so proud of them and everyone who has seen them loves them.  I guess I will just have an opportunity to do another rendition of them somewhere else.  I sure will miss the originals though.

As many of you know I ripped up all the carpet on the entire second story.  We have tongue and groove wood upstairs as the sub floor.  My plan was to sand, stain and re-poly the wood.  Looks like now I will have to throw some carpet down on them again.  UGH.  All that work for nothing!  I never realized how many staples they use when they put carpet down.  More than a million I am sure! LOL

Things will definitely slow down here on the blog.  I can't begin as many projects because I need to be spending my time getting the house in order to put on the market.  Even once we put it on the market, I will have to scale back because I can't have a project all spread out in the game room when they are showing the house.  So bear with me during this time.  I will not be posting as much as in the past.  But, once I get settled into the house in Georgia I will begin whipping out projects again.  And boy - I CANNOT WAIT!  I will even have my own space in the basement to work in!  Yee Haw!  Exciting!!!!!

I do have a favor to ask of all my loyal readers.........help me figure out what to do about the name of my blog.  Do I leave it as Compulsive in Texas even though I will be living in Georgia.  Do I change it to Compulsive in Georgia?   Or do I come up with a new name all together?  I welcome any and all feedback you can give me.  So, let me here your suggestions!

I will have a project for you later this week so keep checking back!

XOXO,

Susan

Break

By now you probably think I've abandoned my blog.  I haven't I've just been consumed with being the Girl Scout cookie mom.  I have stacks and stacks of boxes of cookies lined up in my dining room right now.  So, I'm just taking a little break from the blog to focus on the cookie sales for my daughter's troop.  Once cookie season is over I promise I will return to my blog.  Until then, hang tight and keep on crafting!  See you towards the beginning of April.

XOXO,

Susan

Senior Portraits

Please take a second and help me out! My daughter is entered in a contest and we need YOU! It only takes 4 simple steps:

1.    1.Log into your Facebook
4.    4.Help her win!
It takes about five minutes! If we win, she gets a free mini shoot! For me, the pictures would be used as her senior portraits seeing as the cost for having a senior in high school is insane! You have to cut corners where you can!
HELP A POOR SENIOR PARENT OUT!
The contest is until February 29th, so please take 2 minutes of your time!
Now, that sounds pretty sweet, don’t you think?

Finally Finishing the Impossible!

Remember this closet?  You know, the one with my skeletons in it. Ha. Ha.  It was one of two from the Imagine the Impossibilities Challenge.  I procrastinated and only got 1 of the 2 closets cleaned out.  January 31 came and went.  I only had my one closet to display.  I really wanted to get both closets done.  I just ran out of steam.

As I said in my earlier post, I started on the dreaded closet yesterday.  This closet has plagued me the entire time we have lived in this house.  I would straighten it up and then the kids would have a sleepover and out all the blankets would come.  Or they would have a play date and get into all the Halloween costumes so they could play dress up.  No matter how hard they tried they couldn't get everything back the way it was so it was (gently?) tossed back into the closet.  Then we would go through old clothes and they would end up in there until we took them to Good Will.  It just became this revolving door of messes.  This last time was the grand daddy of them all mainly because I chose to ignore it.  It was pretty easy to do too!  Out of sight out of mind.  Here are some more before pictures.  Remember - Don't Judge! LOL

Wooooo Hooooo I can see a part of the floor!

Now, ask yourself, "why does she still have an alligator xylophone when her youngest is 9 ?!!!! "
Progress!
Progress!

And this is the now.......drum roll please.................

Yesterday, I purged, purged, purged and it felt great! I threw away years of the kids old papers from preschool through 12th grade!  Two black garbage bags worth!  Of course, I had to save the really cute ones for black mail later! Ha. Ha.  I have a pile of toys for Good Will as well as a mountain of stuffed animals.  We had almost 15 blankets in that closet.  No wonder you couldn't walk in it.  I also got rid of some of the kids baby clothes that I had been hanging onto for some reason.  I rationalized that I had the memories of the kids in pictures and in my heart and didn't need to hold on to the clothes.  Because let's face it - they aren't going to dress their kids in them no matter how cute they are.  They will just roll their eyes and say Thank you, just like I did when my mom gave me some of my baby clothes.  LOL  I got rid of old frames that had been accumulating in the closet as well as all of the old Halloween costumes.  It just feels so great to stand in the closet and look at how much room I have now.

The one thing I could not part with is my wedding dress.  I'm not sure why since it didn't get cleaned after the wedding and has large brown stains on it from champagne.  Send me a comment and tell me if you think I should get rid of it or not.  I'm leaning toward giving it away but I have had it for almost 23 years now and for some reason it still tugs at my heart strings.  I'd love to get others points of view though.

And that my friends, is what I did yesterday.  I imagined the impossibilities and made it possible.  I've gotta say, I feel great!
