A while back, when I was working on my closets, I mentioned that I had a special incentive to work on the closets and get them cleaned out. Well, as it turns out, we are moving to Atlanta. My superman husband has been transferred and will now be the V.P. of the southeastern region. He started his new job yesterday and the kids and I will follow this summer.
I spent the weekend in Atlanta house hunting. Who knew you could look at so many houses in a four day span of time?! I was exhausted at the end of every day. House hunting is hard work! It took a lot out of me both mentally and physically. I am such a klutz!! On the very first day we were there, while out looking at the second house of the day, I tripped while walking UP the front steps of the house and cut the bottom of my toe. Of course it started to gush blood and of course I didn't have a band-aid. Thank goodness that we were at a house that was occupied and I could "borrow" some paper towels to tide me over until I could get a band-aid. What a klutz! I was so embarrassed!!! Oh well, things happen I guess. LOL Long story short we ended up bidding on a house but a bid had already been put in the night before so now we are the back up bid. I just put it all in the hands of the Man upstairs. If it was meant to be then it will - if not......we will keep looking. We have a great Realtor, so I know we will find something soon.
I love Atlanta so far. It is sooooo different than Houston. I love the hills, mountains and all of the trees. The people are nice too. Who knew that you could actually have a view in your backyard? Here in Houston all we have is a flat yard with grass and a 6ft privacy fence to stare at. I am definitely looking forward to finding a house.
In the meantime, I have to get this house ready to show. There is lots of work to be done! I finally am going to be forced to do all of the touch up paint that I have so sadly neglected. It seems I get to the end of painting a room and I am too tired to go back and touch up the spots where I hit the ceiling or trim with paint. Gotta get out that paint brush and get to work. I also have to purge the kids rooms and the game room. Have you ever tried to purge a teenagers room? Mine are so reluctant to get rid of anything. Especially my daughter. Everything is a memory to her. I've got my work cut out for me.
I am sooooooooo sad to have to leave my vintage crate stairs. I will sure miss them. I am so proud of them and everyone who has seen them loves them. I guess I will just have an opportunity to do another rendition of them somewhere else. I sure will miss the originals though.
As many of you know I ripped up all the carpet on the entire second story. We have tongue and groove wood upstairs as the sub floor. My plan was to sand, stain and re-poly the wood. Looks like now I will have to throw some carpet down on them again. UGH. All that work for nothing! I never realized how many staples they use when they put carpet down. More than a million I am sure! LOL
Things will definitely slow down here on the blog. I can't begin as many projects because I need to be spending my time getting the house in order to put on the market. Even once we put it on the market, I will have to scale back because I can't have a project all spread out in the game room when they are showing the house. So bear with me during this time. I will not be posting as much as in the past. But, once I get settled into the house in Georgia I will begin whipping out projects again. And boy - I CANNOT WAIT! I will even have my own space in the basement to work in! Yee Haw! Exciting!!!!!
I do have a favor to ask of all my loyal readers.........help me figure out what to do about the name of my blog. Do I leave it as Compulsive in Texas even though I will be living in Georgia. Do I change it to Compulsive in Georgia? Or do I come up with a new name all together? I welcome any and all feedback you can give me. So, let me here your suggestions!
I will have a project for you later this week so keep checking back!
XOXO,
Susan
